Greetings,

Syro here with news of Polcheck Ep6, during a scene a actress called Ashlie is "grabed" and unfortunatly, the "take" used wasn't the first and a red pressure mark begun to show.

A frame by frame rotorscope job will be needed to remove the red mark, However! the time it takes may be to great.

We will have to see how the situation pans out.

Hey man! Just wanted to say Im loving Polcheck! Cant wait much longer for the next ones... GIMME MORE POLCHECK! lol

just wanted to also say Watching Polcheck has inspired me to write some more music, and i came up with some "Detective/ Police" sounding music.. Wondered wuld you like to use some in your next cases? if you want i'll send you some 60 second previews.

I use Acid Pro and do alot of the instruments myself i.e. Sax, Violin, piano, Electric guitar and bass, 3/4 Double bass, trumpet and afew others.

And you seem to know how to animate logos, maybe you could help me animate mine.

All the best,

Sly a.k.a The Professor ^^

Dear Syro,

I did see part I of the first Episode. I think I'm gonna have fun with each movie so here are my comments:

1) The writing and acting are SUPERB. To say this is an amateur film would be disrespecting both the actors and writers. I've said that comedy is probably the most difficult thing to make. I don't know who wrote this, but whomever did so has obvious talent. Some of my favorite comedic moments:

- Hans Polcheck changing his clothes after seeing his girlfriend. Classic comedic editing. I couldn't have done this better.
- Lil Randy sliding down at the playground. The sense of timing is just hilarious
-Detective Ball sack...Pay check...(That's is beyond hilarious)

2) I've said this already, but I want to reiterate for effect. The acting is FANTASTIC. I wanted to say that the two "weaknessess" are the sound design (which you know I suck at) and some camera work. However, the acting more than makes up for this. I wish I had them in some of the serious stuff I'm trying to write. My sincere compliments to them. I wouldn't be surprised if I see them in an independent film or even big budget film (i.e. a Peter Jackson or something made by Weta Digital) in the near future. I think the actors are on another level (certainly not amateur)

3) The camera work issues I had, relate to the lack of a few close-ups, particularly during the fight sequences. I would have liked to see some close-ups of hits for effect; or the use of a different angle to make the punches more realistic.

However, this is a comedy so I think what you shot works. This criticism is based on my experience and love for action films.

I would have liked to see some over the shoulder shots between Polcheck and the girlfriend. But I want to point out that I didn't notice this until my 3rd viewing (yes..I've watched this part of the episode about 5 times now). You can get away with this continuous shot and it doesn't take away from the film at all.

4) The scooter - If you are familar with the hip-hop artist DMX, you'd understand when I say that Hans is true rough rider. I almost busted out laughing at work when I saw this.

5) The water shots are fantastic. They're not cinematic award winners. ...but its damn near close. I can fully appreciate this work because I can't imagine how difficult it was to do this. I gave you a 5 after the opening shot of Hans in the water - I really don't give a crap what people thing about my rating.

6) I assume you've done some grading here. I've thought about doing some film noir type stuff. Have you considered doing an all black and white version of an episode? I don't think this is necessary, but I think a black and white, with high contrast, and some that old film look, would be good to try out on one episode. I might be wrong.

7) Part I of the episode is just great. I can see why you've gotten so many hits. As stated before the acting and writing are high end. I enjoyed watching this..even after the 5th viewing.

I'm on my lunch break, but I won't be able to watch the other part until another time...just wanted to touch base.

Greetings,

Syro here with some info on Grading, I have been going through all the footage from previous projects and re-grading, Its amazing the capabilities of Programs today, for those in the dark; Digital grading is a process through which film is manipulated by changing colours or smoothing effects shots, observe…

Overall it gives the ability to make your footage look better, more vivid and unique.

Syro here with news of “The Polcheck Chronicles”, I first got involved with “TPC” last year (05) in September making a Cameo as a ‘X-Mas Zombie’. Since then I have become involved in Production, signing on as a Digital Animator. I eagerly await to begin work on it, until then there are these feel free to use them as links to the Polcheck Chronicles main Page.

Meanwhile… Having now purchased “VisionLab HD” I want to re-visit Goran’s Stunt Reel (see archived Posts for information), Replacing Existing effects with newer updated ones.

I will keep you posted as to how it comes along.

Greetings,

Syro here with some commission News, Goran Jacosi commissioned SyroVision for a Lightsaber battle sequence over some footage taken of him and his twin brother practicing. Goran is a Professional Stuntman I had the fortune of meeting during my time working on Superman Returns. The Saber Animation was sup-par at first due to the time restraints but he payed anyway, I have recently gone back and re-animated the sequence with more photo realistic blades.

Upon delivery Goran sent me this email:

Sorry it took so long but I have arranged a new money order to be sent to you for the work you did. It might take a week or so to get to you. thanks again. Top-notch stuff.
    Regards Goran

Lovely stuff, and a first class client, Goran is a black belt in multiple tears of the eastern martial arts as well as a stuntman and entertainer, If you need his contact details? Let me know. (yes he does lessons)

Until next time kiddies, Syro Says : "Cheer up, the worst is yet to come."

Greetings,

Syro here, updating the site; I added some external Links to the right side of the page.

• SyroVision Gallery
This is a PutFile site which hosts some of the Custom Request work I do, nothing to special mostly just test renders and requests.
• SyroVision For Eq2
This is a link to the Station.Sony forums, where I hold a "Signatures" page, Gamers who play Everquest 2 come on and request images made for their characters, which I make. I find it’s a good way to further Photoshop Skills and build up a reputable name for SyroVision. Increasing Client Database as well as generating over $1,100US worth of Donations over the last 2 years.
• Polcheck Chronicles
Hans Polcheck is a P.I. in Sydney’s northern beaches, his crazy, drunken, romantic and death defying antics are captured by Craig Moore and released as short web-dramas known only as "The Polcheck Chronicles"

Well that’s it for today!

Greetings,

Syro here with some news of work, I have been requested for Digital Work on the latest episode of "The Polcheck Chronicles", Directed by Sydney Based Director 'Craig Moore'. The work mixes 3D Animation, Advanced Particle Effect Animation & Blue/Green Screen Keying with some gool'ol fashioned Roto-scoping and Post-Production Gibber Jabber.

Sound Like Fun?  YOU BET!

  • Hours and hours indoors
  • Little to no sunlight
  • No pay check
  • Constantly crunching numbers for accurate symmetry and gravity
  • Drinking nothing but Sugary Sodas
  • Massive Decline in Personal Hygiene

Ahhh the life of a Digital Artist...
